Game: Tacoma Rainiers – Las Vegas 51s
    Pick: Las Vegas 51s ML
    Odds: 2.00
    Bookmakers: 10Bet, bwin

It’s Game 1 of a double-header and the bookies were misled by some transactions on Tacoma’s parent MLB club Seattle Mariners. Original starter Erasmo Ramirez was sent yesterday evening to Mariners to face Las Vegas’ parent club NY Mets and James Paxton will start a rehab stint. He was placed on a 60-day DL with a left lat strain and suffered a setback on May 24th exiting after just three innings against El Paso. Paxton started on July 17th for short-season Single-A Everett against Salem-Keizer and couldn’t finish the third inning giving up two runs on two hits.

51s will send Noah Syndergaard to the mound. Thor was hit hard last Friday in Salt Lake giving up seven runs in just five innings. It was Syndergaard’s first start in almost two weeks because of the All-Star break. Still I’ll take 51s any time with him pitching especially @2.00. And do not forget that Las Vegas is third in the league in hits (1018), first in home runs (127) and walks (465) and SS Wilmer Flores is riding a 22-games hitting streak!
PCL Tacoma Rainiers - Las Vegas 51s 0:4 Won

Game: Reno Aces – Las Vegas 51s
    Pick: Las Vegas 51s ML
    Odds: 1.83 – 1.85
    Bookmakers: 10Bet, bwin

The line opened @1.87 but dropped quickly for a reason. Aces were outhit during yesterday's loss but managed to stay in the game thanks to the catcher Bobby Wilson who threw out three base stealers. However in the seventh inning pinch-hitters Kevin Plawecki and Cory Vaughn broke the game open.

51s will send Darin Gorski to the mound in the third game of the series. Mount Joy, PA native has been a pleasant surprise since his promotion from Double-A Binghamton in May. Gorski is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.83 in 7 starts as he struck out 39 batters in 39.1 innings. Only once in his last five starts he gave up more than two runs and it was on June 24 against Memphis when the defense behind him made a number of errors. Gorski made his Triple-A debut this year against Aces on May 31st and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits with 5 strike outs in 6.1 innings. Predominantly fly ball pitcher he should have no troubles with the awful field conditions in Reno.

Aces will start lefty Andrew Chafin who was on a roll in Double-A Mobile but has struggled in Triple-A. Since his promotion on May 23rd he is 2-3 in 9 starts with an ERA of 6.19. Five times Chafin failed to finish the fifth inning and has given up less than three runs only once. He faced 51s in Las Vegas on June 2nd and suffered a defeat giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings of work.
PCL Reno Aces - Las Vegas 51s 15:4 - Lose

Game: Reno Aces – Las Vegas 51s
    Pick: Las Vegas 51s ML
    Odds: 1.72
    Bookmakers: bwin

There is not much tendency to look for but since Las Vegas became Mets farm team they have never lost two in a row against Reno. Aces won 14:8 on Monday but will start Charles Brewer who was demoted to Double-A Mobile for a month and a half. Before that he faced Las Vegas twice and was hit soundly: 7 hits and 4 runs in 4.1 innings on April 15th and 9 hits and 9 runs in 3 innings on May 1st. 51s will send Logan Verrett to the mound. In his first year in Triple-A the Baylor product is 6-2 with an ERA of 4.82. And Verrett has not suffered a loss in almost two months!
PCL: Reno Aces - Las Vegas 51s 2:6 - Won

Game: Las Vegas 51s – Salt Lake Bees
    Pick: Las Vegas 51s ML
    Odds: 1.65
    Bookmakers: 10Bet

New York Mets top pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard will start for 51s. Known as Thor because of his power gave up five earned on five hits in just four innings last Thursday at Sacramento but maintained his high strikeout numbers. Syndergaard has 9.9 SO for 9 innings which puts him third in PCL. Bees lost 3:7 to 51s on Monday with all their runs coming off homeruns. Which is not a good idea against Syndergaard who gives one HR every 7.7 innings. Tyler Skaggs is expected to start for the Bees. He was pulled off after just three innings on June 26th at Fresno giving up seven runs.
PCL Las Vegas 51s – Salt Lake Bees 9:8 - Won

Game: Las Vegas 51s – Salt Lake Bees
    Pick: Las Vegas 51s ML
    Odds: 1.63
    Bookmakers: 10Bet

After losing two in a row in Sacramento PCL leaders return home to face the bottom feeders Salt Lake. Bees exploded for six unanswered runs in the ninth to beat Fresno last night but their only chance for survival tonight is to turn the game into a slugfest. Anthony Lerew will start for Salt Lake on a three days rest after tossing three innings from the bullpen against Fresno. He’s been something a real live batting practice machine allowing 54 hits and 31 earned runs in just 36 innings with a BAA of .360.
PCL Las Vegas - Salt Lake 7:3 - Won

Game: Chicago Cubs – Washington Nationals
    Pick: Washington Nationals ML
    Odds: 1.75
    Bookmakers: Expekt, NordicBet

Doug Fister is the unsung hero of the Nationals rotation. After spending the whole April on the DL and making a terrible debut in Oakland the former Tigers pitcher has made six quality starts in his last eight appearances. Fister has given up more than two earned runs only once during that span and only once has failed to finish six innings of work. For the season he’s 6-2 with an ERA of 2.65 which puts him 8th in NL.
With a BAA of just .231 Cubs are second to last in Majors. And their starter tonight Travis Wood has an ERA of 6.09 for the night games comparing to 2.10 for the day starts.
MLB Chicago Cubs – Washington Nationals 5:3 - Lose

Game: Seattle Mariners - Boston Red Sox
    Pick: Seattle Mariners ML
    Odds: 1.75
    Bookmakers: 5Dimes, bet365, Pinnacle Sports

Hisashi Iwakuma takes the mound for Seattle. His ERA climbed a little after facing then red-hot Royals on Saturday but still 3.04 puts him in Top 10 in AL. Opposite starter Clay Buchholz has an awful WHIP of 1.98 after being taxed with 6 runs after walking eight batters in his last appearance - on May 26th in Atlanta. He was put on DL with hyperextended knee and made two rehab starts for Pawtuckett in Triple-A. Buchholz has given up 33 hits and 19 earned runs in his last 18 MLB innings during which his ERA rose to 7.02.
    MLB Seattle - Boston 4:5 - Lose

    Hi guys!
You probably don't know but besides american football baseball is my biggest passion. And I'll try to give you a (hopefully) good tip for today.
Colorado will send to the mound Christian Friedrich who will make his first major league start in almost two years. He underwent back surgery in 2012 and it took him more than 18 months to recover. Friedrich started the year in Triple-A for Colorado Springs and went 1-8 with a 7.93 ERA, only three quality starts and opponents' BAA of .330.
Milwaukee has won 7 of the last 10 games and 4 of the last 5 with only loss coming in a walk-off fashion Wednesday at Arizona. Wily Peralta will start for the Brewers. He is a groundball pitcher which is always a good recipe for success in the thin air of Denver.
The game opened @1.83 for Milwaukee and dropped a little. You can bet Brewers @1.77 at 10Bet and Coral. Pinnacle Sports offers 1.76.
    Colorado - Milwaukee 4:9 - Won

  • Season review

It’s time to close the book on the 2013 season.

After a successful September we hit a pretty rough patch the next two months. Very little things went our way in October but November was where the goings got really tough. It’s where most of the NCAA teams went off their tendencies and cost us some units. However NCAA Bowl season and last couple of NFL weeks in December almost got us even before Seattle made some unforeseen strides to win it all…

All in all it was a pretty moderate debut season for me. There are many things I learned from strategic point of view that I’ll try to implement next year. So I’ll enjoy my offseason and in September I’ll be back eager to beat the bookies!

Finally a month in the green!!! Bowl series and final month of NFL regular season is usually a good period to bet even though some matches went a point or two on the wrong side. Now it’s time for playoffs. The NFL is highly unpredictable and my experience shows that almost half of the matches finish exactly the opposite way the “experts” predict. So on the final stretch we’ll try to finish above the water in the otherwise difficult season.
